Drug & Alcohol Rehab Built Around the Individual

Healing Sands provides alcohol and drug detox, residential treatment, and step-down support for adults in Palm Springs.

Treatment addresses substance use alongside concerns such as anxiety, depression, and trauma. Our six-bed model allows the same clinical team to stay closely involved as clients move through each stage of care.

Rather than following a fixed schedule, treatment plans adjust as needs and progress change

Treatment starts with the person, not a fixed program.

Substance use often exists alongside anxiety, depression, grief, or trauma. Our approach looks at both together, using clinical assessment to understand what is driving substance use and what each client needs to move forward.

01

Mental health is part of the treatment

Substance use and co-occurring concerns such as anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma are addressed together rather than as separate problems.
Assessment tools and clinical conversations help the team understand how these concerns connect and shape the treatment plan.

02

The plan changes as the client does

Every client begins with a treatment plan based on their history, risk factors, current needs, and recovery goals.
The plan isn't fixed at admission. It can be adjusted as symptoms stabilize, new concerns emerge, or progress changes what support is needed.

03

Clinical decisions guide each stage.

Medical oversight continues through detox and residential care, with the team monitoring progress and determining when changes in treatment or level of care are appropriate.
Care decisions are based on what the client needs rather than following the same schedule for everyone.

04

Medication isn't an automatic barrier to care.

Clients receiving medication-assisted treatment can remain eligible for admission when their medication can be safely managed within the program.
Clinical fit is reviewed individually rather than using MAT as an automatic reason to deny treatment.

CONTINUUM OF CARE

Three connected stages of treatment.

Treatment moves through three connected stages. Clients can enter at the stage that matches their current needs based on clinical screening and assessment.
The goal is continuity: as the level of care changes, the treatment history and progress move forward with the client.

Alcohol & Drug Detox

Stabilization comes first when withdrawal support is needed.

Clinically managed withdrawal support may be the starting point for clients who need alcohol or drug detox in Palm Springs.

Staff monitor withdrawal symptoms and vital signs around the clock while providing comfort-focused support through early sobriety. The goal is physical stabilization and readiness for the next stage of treatment.

Residential Treatment

Structure for the work that comes after stabilization.

Once medically stable, clients can move into structured residential treatment.

Days may include individual therapy, group sessions, psychoeducation, and skill-building focused on emotional regulation and relapse triggers. Progress is monitored closely so the treatment plan can adjust as needs change.

Step-Down Support

Support continues as independence returns.

Moving out of residential treatment is a significant transition. Step-down care keeps clients connected to support while they begin rebuilding routines outside the residential setting.

The focus shifts toward relapse prevention, coping with daily stress, and continued clinical check-ins.

WHY HEALING SANDS

What makes our approach different.

How closely a treatment plan follows a client's actual progress matters just as much as the overall program structure. Our smaller setting and connected levels of care allow treatment to adapt as needs change.

Small enough to know each client.

Our six-bed residential setting allows staff to become familiar with each client's history, triggers, symptoms, and progress.
That level of familiarity can be harder to maintain in larger facilities managing dozens of clients at once.

One team through every stage.

Detox, residential treatment, and step-down support operate as one connected continuum.
The client's history and treatment plan move forward with them, reducing the need to start over with a different provider every time the level of care changes.

The plan follows the progress.

A client's treatment plan carries forward from detox into residential care and adjusts based on what the clinical team is actually seeing.
That might mean reinforcing a coping skill that's working, addressing a newly identified trigger, or changing the focus as stability improves.

The next step is planned before the last day.

Discharge planning begins well before residential treatment ends.
The team considers ongoing support, relapse risks, coping strategies, and step-down needs throughout treatment so clients leave with a next step already mapped out.

WHO WE HELP

Support for clients and the people around them.

Healing Sands works with adults facing alcohol or drug use alongside concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief.
Some clients arrive after outpatient treatment hasn't been enough to interrupt repeated relapse. Others are entering treatment for the first time and need help understanding whether detox, residential treatment, or another level of care is the right starting point.
Our trauma-informed approach addresses mental health alongside substance use for clients from Palm Springs and communities throughout the Coachella Valley.

Recovery affects more than one person.

Substance use can affect partners, parents, children, and other people close to the client. By the time treatment begins, families may already be dealing with exhaustion, uncertainty, and repeated attempts to help.

When appropriate, family and close support systems can be involved through education, progress communication, and planning for the transition out of residential treatment.

Start with a conversation.

If you or someone you care about is dealing with alcohol or drug use alongside a mental health concern, our team can help you understand what treatment may look like.

Yes. Clients receiving medication-assisted treatment remain eligible for admission when the medication can be safely managed as part of their treatment plan.
